Property Management
The inaugural PM/ONE Conference brought together leaders, innovators and practitioners from across the property management industry to tackle some of the most pressing challenges we face today.
Recruitment and retention, rising customer expectations, team culture, job enjoyment, compliance and ever-changing legislation were all addressed throughout the sessions.
Running through it all was one unifying theme: the evolution of Property Managers into trusted advisors. Guiding their clients, supporting their teams and shaping the future of the industry.
“Innovation, adaptability and collaboration are key.”
Scott’s takeaway was how leaders across the industry are responding to shared challenges with creativity and resilience. Whether it’s new technology, fresh thinking or collaborative initiatives, the message was clear: the future of property management will belong to those who can innovate, adapt quickly and work together to raise the standard for everyone.
“Movement is not the same as progress.”
Virginia noted that successful implementation comes down to focus… choosing one thing at a time and doing it well. In today’s fast-paced environment, it’s easy to be busy without moving forward. She also highlighted how social media and short-form content have become the new learning channels, making knowledge more accessible than ever. For her, the lesson was that simplicity, clarity and focus are the foundations of real progress.
“Don’t overcomplicate your tech stack.”
Chris emphasised the importance of building a relationship with your technology, not just using it. We often see businesses pile on tools that don’t talk to each other, creating more work than solutions. A streamlined tech stack that understands your business challenges and can grow alongside you ensures efficiency and scalability without unnecessary complexity.
“There are smarter ways to recruit and retain.”
For Kate, the standouts were the creative recruitment and retention strategies making waves across the industry. Initiatives such as return-to-work programs for mums, cadetships to nurture future leaders, outsourcing to relieve team pressure, floating property managers for balance and even nine-day fortnights are reshaping how agencies support their people.
Her biggest reflection: in real estate, the quality of your relationships equals the quality of your business. That now extends beyond clients and owners. It’s about investing in team culture and strengthening internal relationships.
The PM/ONE Conference reinforced that property management is no doubt evolving rapidly. From recruitment innovations to cultural shifts, from compliance challenges to technology adoption, one thing is clear… agencies that embrace smarter practices, nurture their teams and adapt with agility will thrive.
At PropertyMe, we’re proud to be part of this evolution… helping Property Managers simplify processes, support their people and build businesses that last.
