1. What is this Privacy Policy?

  1. PropertyMe Pty Ltd of Level 22, One Wharf Lane, 171 Sussex Street, Sydney NSW 2000 (we, us and our) operates the PropertyMe website at (the Website), the PropertyMe application, and other associated applications and services (the Services).
  2. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information we collect from you when you use any of our Services.
  3. We may modify or amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will display a notice on the Website indicating when any such revisions have been made. This Privacy Policy was last updated on 4 September 2018.
  4. Unless you notify us otherwise, we will assume that you have consented to the collection of all information which is provided to us for use in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. What is personal information?

Personal information is information or an opinion about an individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether true or not and whether recorded in material form or not.

3. What personal information do we collect?

  1. We may collect personal information from you when you visit the Website, use any of the Services, or otherwise contact us by any method (such as telephone, email, post or in person).
  2. When you register or subscribe to any of the Services, we will collect the personal information you provide to us during the registration or subscription process or in the course of your use of the Services. Such personal information may include details such as your name, phone number, email address, business address, credit card number, expiry date, bank details and billing address.
  3. When you access and use any of the Services, we will record and log for statistical purposes certain information about such access and use, including your IP address, the date and time of your visit, the parts of the Services you access, your actions, and the browser you are using. Where you register or subscribe for any of the Services, this information may be associated with you.

When you access and use the Services with a mobile device, we may access, collect, monitor and/or remotely store “location data,” which may include GPS coordinates or similar information regarding the location of your mobile device. Location data may convey to us information about how you browse and use the Services. Please note that disabling the availability of location data may mean that some or all of the functions of the Services may not be available to you. In particular, location data must be enabled to receive location-specific information as part of the Services.

You do not have to provide us with any personal information if you choose not to. You may use the Website without registering, in which case we will not be able to personally identify you unless you choose to register or subscribe to any of the Services or provide us with your identity. You cannot, however, register or subscribe to any of the Services (other than browsing the Website) anonymously or using a pseudonym.

  1. Some of the personal information referred to in section 3 may be collected through the use of cookies. Most browsers are set by default to accept cookies. 6. How is your personal information used?

  1. The personal information that we collect is generally used to provide products or services to you, to track your usage of the Services, to evaluate performance of the Services, and to keep track of your account settings. Information collected by us may also be used for the following purposes:

    1. that third party is a group company of ours, in which case that group company will only use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy as if a reference in this privacy policy to us included a reference to that group company;
    2. that third party is a contractor engaged to provide goods or services to us (including goods or services that assist us in providing the Services). This may include disclosure to contractors outside of Australia. Our agreements with such contractors require that they keep your personal information confidential, and that they only use or disclose your personal information for the purposes of providing those goods or services to us;
    3. such disclosure is in connection with the sale of some or all of our business or assets; or
    4. you have consented for us to share the information for this purpose, or the disclosure is authorised by the Privacy Act or other applicable law, including:
      1. to lessen or prevent a serious threat to life or health;
      2. to protect the personal safety of users of the Services or the public;
      3. if authorised or required by law;
      4. if we have reason to suspect that unlawful activity has been, is being or may be engaged in;
      5. to enforce the law or where necessary to investigate a suspected unlawful activity; or
      6. you would reasonably expect or we have told you that your personal information is usually used or disclosed to third parties in this way,
  3. At this time, the third parties referred to in paragraph (b) are located in Australia and the United States of America. In particular, we disclose the following personal information to third parties:
    1. credit card details to a third party who processes payments in relation to the Services, which processing or ancillary services takes place outside Australia (including the United States of America);
    2. mobile phone numbers to a third party who provides our SMS component of the Services, located in the United States of America; and
    3. email addresses to a third party who provides an inbound and outbound hosted email component of the Services, located in the United States of America.

8. Access and correction of your personal information

  1. We will, on request, provide you with access to the information we hold about you, including for the purpose of correcting or updating that information, unless there is an exception to such disclosure which applies under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). 
  2. If you require access to your personal information, please contact us using the details listed in section 10(a). Before we provide you with access to your personal information we will require some proof of identity. For most requests, your information will be provided free of charge, however, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request requires a substantial effort on our part.
  3. If we refuse to provide you with access to the information, we will provide you with reasons for the refusal and inform you of any exceptions relied upon under the APPs (unless it would be unreasonable to do so).
  4. We take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete, and up-to-date whenever we collect or use it. If the personal information we hold about you is inaccurate, incomplete, irrelevant or out-of-date, please contact us using the details listed in section 10(a), and we will take reasonable steps to either correct this information, or if necessary, discuss alternative action with you.

9. How we hold and secure your personal information

  1. The security of your personal information is important to us. We take reasonable steps to prevent the personal information we hold about you from misuse, interference or loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes the use of technologies and processes such as access control procedures, network firewalls, encryption and physical security to protect the privacy of your personal information. We also delete any credit card details you provide to us from our servers once you cancel your registration or subscription.
  1. Sometimes the Services contain links to other websites. When you access a website or applications outside the Services, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of that site. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of each website you visit.
