Senior DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer is the owner of our development infrastructure. Their focus is on the speed of delivery, they bridge the gap between the development team and the production environment. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining best practices with the development environment and cloud infrastructure end to end build and deploy processes, along with automation of the process with infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Take ownership of release automation, build and test pipeline, testing analysis, and troubleshooting the production and development environments
  • Drive the company towards CI/CD in order to increase the speed and reliability of delivery
  • Contribute to management of our infrastructure of code and operational infrastructure
  • Contribute to cost reduction on our development infrastructure and cloud platform
  • Improve and maintain our production server and application monitoring systems
  • Respond to alerts and initiate corrective procedures where automation is not yet in place
  • Establish and encourage the DevOps culture within our teams
  • Deployment of all releases ensuring they go smoothly
  • Assist with security improvements and monitoring
  • Database administration in AWS with Aurora (MySQL)
  • Cross trains other staff in DevOps engineering practices and acts as a mentor on best practice
  • Maintain clear written documentation on the setup and architecture of the system
Stakeholders

The position is required to liaise with the development team and production support and reports to the Development Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • 3+ years Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience
  • Experience in a SaaS environment

  • Bring a can-do upbeat attitude and a technical curiosity and persistence to get things working well
  • Passion for automation and efficiency
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Technical capabilities
  • 4+ years scripting experience automating deployment and cloud tasks
  • Bash, Powershell
  • Must be completely comfortable in Linux and Windows
  • Docker
  • OctopusDeploy (or similar)
  • TeamCity
  • Bamboo
  • IIS
  • Sound understanding of Networking and Security principles including setting up firewalls, reverse proxies, forward proxies, and load balancers
