Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Own the architecture and implementation of the infrastructure for building, deploying, testing and troubleshooting the production and development environments
- Responsible for monitoring, alerting, escalation of issues and incident reporting
- Drive reliability and cost reduction on our cloud platform
- Take ownership for automation of all of our operational infrastructure
- Take ownership for ensuring the system is following best security practices, leading external Pen tests and projects for improvement
- Establish and encourage the DevOps culture within our teams
- Advise the development team on best practices throughout the design process to ensure they can be delivered to a highly available and cost effective production environment
- Quickly responding to AWS alarms and incidents as required out of hours and resolving issues
- Database performance administration in AWS with Aurora (MySQL)
- Cross trains other staff in DevOps engineering practices and acts as a mentor on best practice
- Maintain clear written runbooks and documentation on the setup and architecture of the system
Stakeholders
The position is required to liaise with the development team and production support and reports to the Development Manager.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience
- Experience in a SaaS environment

- Passion for automation and efficiency
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Technical capabilities
- 5+ years in a devOps/SRE role
- Powershell, Bash
- Must be completely comfortable in Linux and Windows
- Amazon Web Services – CloudWatch, Cloud Formation, ELBs, and EC2 instancing, and working with EBS volumes. Aurora, DynamoDb, ElasticSearch, Kinesis, Firehose, Elastic Container Service
- OctopusDeploy (or similar)
- Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker
- IIS
- Sound understanding of Networking and Security principles including setting up firewalls, reverse proxies, forward proxies, and load balancers
